What You’ll Do
Client Development & Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of residential estates, commercial properties, and institutional clients
- Conduct proactive property walks to identify plant health care, pruning, removals, and enhancement opportunities
- Present service recommendations, proposals, and long-term care plans to clients
- Build and maintain strong, ongoing client relationships that result in long-term partnerships
Business Development
- Identify and pursue new client opportunities through networking, referrals, and strategic partnerships
- Attend industry events, local associations, and networking functions to build brand presence and relationships
- Collaborate with design/build and estate management divisions to cross-sell additional services
Sales & Revenue Growth
- Create monthly revenue development plans and sales forecasts
- Sell and schedule plant health care treatments, seasonal sprays, pruning, removals, and general tree care services
- Report regularly to leadership on sales performance, new opportunities, and division growth metrics
Field Leadership & Operational Oversight
- Collaborate with production managers, foremen, and crews to ensure proper execution of sold work
- Perform site audits to ensure work quality, safety, and adherence to best management practices
- Provide field coaching, training, and mentorship to crew members on pruning standards, PHC treatments, and client interaction
Risk Management & Compliance
- Ensure safe work practices and compliance with all applicable safety standards (OSHA, DOT, NJDEP, ANSI Z133)
- Stay current on licensing, pesticide regulations, and industry certifications
Financial Management & Reporting
- Monitor profitability, job costing, and service margins
- Participate in budget planning and expense management for the tree care division
- Track equipment and materials usage to ensure efficient operations
What We’re Looking For
- 7+ years of experience in arboriculture, plant health care, or related field
- ISA Certified Arborist (required)
- NJ Licensed Tree Expert (required)
- Valid NJ Pesticide Applicator’s License (or ability to obtain)
- Deep technical knowledge of tree biology, pruning, pest and disease management, PHC, and removals
- Strong leadership, team-building, and staff development skills
- High-level client service and relationship-building capabilities
- Strong sales, estimating, and proposal writing abilities
- Proficiency with technology and CRM/job management systems
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
Education
- Degree in horticulture, arboriculture, or related field preferred; equivalent industry experience will be considered.
