Company Founded by John J. Peters
1974
John Todd purchases Family Tree Services and rebrands at Todd’s Tree Service
1977
John Todd purchases Peters Tree Surgeon and rebrands company to Peters – Todd’s Inc. to keep the family legacy alive
1990
Peters – Todd’s became a contractor for the state of NJ
2002
Peters – Todd's Tree Service became a contractor for the State of New Jersey in 2002, following the discovery of the Asian Longhorned Beetle (ALB) in Jersey City.
The company played a critical role in the state's eradication efforts, which involved removing, chipping, and incinerating over 100,000 trees to prevent the beetle's spread. This intensive operation spanned five years and was instrumental in protecting New Jersey's hardwood forests from significant ecological damage.
Their successful collaboration with state and federal agencies contributed to New Jersey declaring itself free of the ALB by 2013, making it one of the first states to achieve this milestone.

2011
Michael Todd proudly become the 3rd generation owner focusing on the growth and expansion of plant health care services and ornamental pruning services.
2023
Peters – Todd’s is awarded a contract to partner with Union County Parks Commission for the removal of hundreds of Oak and Ash trees due to Bacterial Leaf Scorch (BLS) and Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) damage throughout their parks and golf courses.
June 2025
Peters – Todd’s expands their plant health care services efforts to combat Bacterial Leaf Scorch (BLS) and Beech Leaf Disease (BLD), protecting sentinel trees across parks and private properties.
